      Foreign exchange spread betting firm Alpari has ceased trading
      because of the Swiss National Bank’s move on Thursday to remove
      its currency peg to the euro and the ensuing volatility of the
      Swiss Franc, the BBC has learned. Traders at the firm were told
      this morning there is no money to meet their liabilities.

        A New Zealand broker closed it’s doors too.

        I am amazed they run on such tight margins….

          I guess we should know the full washout come monday as
          losses would affect the funds FX platforms have to
          maintain, set by the regulator of such companies.

          A change to FX spreads and margins may be needed.

          We are in a risky business, ever more so atm.

              I can’t wait for the day that gold breaks it’s ties with paper contracts and is physical trade only.  🙂

                      I did wonder if the Dax had gone too far.

                      Bearing in mind we don’t know what the EcB will announce.
                      A weekend when further Swiss Franc fallout could come to light.
                      Ongoing terrorist activity in europe.

                      I will just take a small Ftse short as insurance.

                        Decided it was best to stay flat and see if there is any more
                        problems with FX trading outfits announced before monday.

                        Best to have no open trades if your SB goes tits, imho.

                          I’ve juts arrived overseas for a few beers and had a look at the charts, what is this silly yellow metal doing ! Market up, gold up ?.?. Come on drop 100USD being propped up IMHO 😉 just for you dan …. Off for beer, that wedding gold season – they must be wearing some massive earings !

                                  This coming week with the known event EcB meeting on
                                  thursday (plus press conference) we may get a divide
                                  between euroland and the rest of the world.

                                  Dax and Ftse rallied on friday so it would not be a
                                  surprise if prices retraced a bit and then rallied
                                  again into the news.
