Hi Zarif, Nice to hear from you. Yes I recall Tom when he was with City index.
He has been somewhat quiet of late. The time clashes with work but I will register and see if I can view a recording.
Its amazing how your Fear Greed index is at fear 45 yet the SP is almost at all time highs 3793 having been as low as 3670 during Sunday nights open. Nice flush out of weak longs perhaps
Happy New year folks!
Hoping there is some volatility and two way movement in the markets this year.
Oh dear, that is absolutely sad and catastrophic news. Chris did indeed keep the pad going single handedly over the past few years and I enjoyed reading his posts. He often spoke of Katy and my thoughts and prayers are with her and his family. Rest in peace.
FTSE expiry 10:10 to 10:15am 3rd Friday of Each month
Spx 3075 … would be a good result for option writers based on someone elses data and ideas.
Overnight futures got near this level … dry run for quad witch ?
Interesting it moved there overnight when most people were asleep. Was there news?
Back up to 3116 at the moment.
One thing is for certain any small piece of irrelevant news can be perceived as good.
Just imaging what could happen if it is announced that the 2meter social distancing rule becomes 1 meter then zero. 2 week quarantine on holidays no longer applicable , vaccine nearly ready etc etc…
There would be a massive hurrah and a good reason for the FTSE to rise as the oil stocks, travel, leisure areas ……..would take off.
I really, really hate expiry weeks. Sure yesterday was amazing as was the tank today, but now back to stuck in underwaters and absolutely no retraces to get out. It was all looking good just now and then bang out of the blue, the WCB appear and now absolutely nothing again, dead as a dodo. So over to tomorrow now.
I have deliberately forced myself not to trade unless I see an overbought extreme.Unfortunately missed that spike into 3168 yesterday as I was driving. Quad OE can be volatile but I have not witnessed 100- 200 spx point moves up and down in the days leading to it in recent years so anything could happen.
I would have normally bought some call options on a drop like we witnessed last Thursday but I didn’t as I lost money on calls purchased during the Feb- March drop.
I have purchased July Vix at 33.90 just in case something happens to the downside.
I am log FTSE 5983 small stake target 50 points , 50 point stop
FTSE Long hit target.
Spx also up 50 as I speak
Markets are truly efficient.
Made sure shorts got burnt and now also longs for good measure.
I am log FTSE 5983 small stake target 50 points , 50 point stop
When I read about all the millenials trading airline stocks and cruise line stocks and making thousands a day, you knew there would be trouble for them ahead.
There was someone on you tube calling Warren Buffet an idiot. This person was making lots of money day trading and it was so easy……
I didn’t want to jinx it yesterday and say it was a good reason for a reversal to punish all those who were complacent. I even had friends calling me on a high asking for stock tips to get into.
Just read Snow Ball by Warren whose ethos was to get rich slowly .
I am happy I decided to just watch after closing and not buy a dip. There are so many unfilled gaps below on SPx next one down is 2955.5, 2863.7
FTSE was a buy at 6020 target 6080 but too chicken to play
Always the way 100 point below where I closed today.. How does one hold with that rip roaring rally we saw.
I always say I am going to hang on for a deep retrace and I fail to keep my cool and follow the plan.
Pritpal you have nearly got your 200 points.
I didn’t want to say too much and jinx it. I cant ever recall Ndx + 150 and spx down big.
I got stopped out of a few positions on last Fridays NFP:
Short from Friday SPX 3135 .
Added at 3160 3180 but had to cut the latter 2 positions at 3200 that day . Walked away and watched as I had to admit I was wrong.
Scalped some shorts only 10-20 points yesterday and made up some of the losses.
Kept the 3135 smaller position and closed today at break even. Just goes to show how crooked the market can be but have to take responsibility and manage risk.
So I haven’t traded particularly well but no big losses and happy with that.
Just watching for now.
