From July 9th: “ … expect a rally to play out over coming sessions that will retrace at least 50% of the sell-off.”
See the DAILY chart. The rally retraced 56%.
Today’s breach of the July low suggests the first of wave-C’s five waves is likely underway.
Confirmation of the larger count – an enduring top at 5996 on March 3rd – remains a breach of the 5122 wave-4 low (magenta horizontal).

I suspect a strong bounce is inevitable at some point, maybe starting sometime next week?
August 24, 2015 at 11:31 #160201890 spx by preference
August 24, 2015 at 13:07 #16028now 1896 , so adding
history of >2% gap down markets suggest they fill rapidly, but who knows in a crash …
August 24, 2015 at 14:11 #16060There’s your 1890 baaa, might want to revisit in real time though. Well done for predicting it. Hope your longs work out, longs bit nervy after the way it’s tanked last couple of weeks.
August 24, 2015 at 14:14 #16061The way ES and FTSE are behaving today kinda resembles capitulation.
August 24, 2015 at 14:45 #16095unbelievable…hope everyone has remained solvent.
quite astonishing to watch, capital spreads went telephone orders only for a while there.
dont think id fancy trying to close out on the phone with 40 point swings in 2 minutes lolAugust 24, 2015 at 15:23 #16106I thought my phone had a tech issue at first, you don’t see numbers like that very often !!

I recall Christmas Eve a few years ago some ugly numbers but that made the open today look like child’s play…. Will be interesting to see if its buy me to hammer or drift back down and retest….surely that was far too much too soon…
August 24, 2015 at 15:40 #16117As I said above – resembled capitulation
August 24, 2015 at 16:07 #16121hope I don’t see another one of those for a while . had some stops taken on part of my longs, survived the remainder . That’s electronic trading for you….
shame I closed my shorts last week !
it remains to be seen whether the record of gap fills >2% remains . If so, we see 1970 in a day or two , hard though that may be to believe.
I doubt the huge swings are over , so position size is everything
August 24, 2015 at 16:19 #16123August 24, 2015 at 22:41 #16179Limit down occurred today. When was the last time that happened? Was it a one off? Just sayin…. :p
